Arinne Braverman
Educator. Community Organizer. Innovator.
Arinne began her career as a complexity management consultant, drawn to identifying solutions in partnership with employees empowered to collaborate to improve their organizations. Next, she completed a fellowship with the Jewish Organizing Initiative learning how to build and strengthen communities. Arinne partnered with residents and community organizations to develop their individual and collective leadership, to strategize, to create effective campaigns, and, ultimately, to achieve measurable improvements.
Arinne received her B.A. in Psychology at Smith College and her M.Ed. from Cambridge College. Then, as now, she was fascinated by identifying opportunities for individual and community growth, and using educational tools to engage people's passions, talents, expertise and imagination, for transformational impact. Ultimately, Arinne learned the most from her mistakes, from "wicked questions," and from her experiences with inspiring mentors, students, staff, and colleagues.
From 2005-2017, Ms. Braverman applied insights gleaned from her education training and complexity science and community organizing background to her work with Jewish communities on multiple college campuses. Arinne was the recipient of several awards for her Jewish education and leadership during this period, including: The Israel Educator Award from the Consul General of Israel to New England, The Richard M. Joel Exemplar of Excellence Award from Hillel International, The Campus Transformation Award from Combined Jewish Philanthropies, and the Torchbearer Award from Synagogue Council of Massachusetts.
In 2018, Arinne formed From Strength to Strength to launch The Tribe. In its first year, participating Tribe families reported a 260% increase in feeling connected to the Jewish community and a 69% increase in the frequency of intentionally engaging in "living Je wish values and doing good deeds" on a monthly or more frequent basis. After just 9 months, participating parents also reported that their relationships with their children were better or closer as a result of their participation. In its second year, in response to the social distancing necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, The Tribe's curriculum was adapted for single-family use and re-released through ShalomLearning. After positive feedback and over 200 synagogue and Jewish organizational downloads of the curriculum in its first 2 months, Arinne partnered with ShalomLearning to release a second intergenerational program for families with children ages 4-8: Living Jewish Values. With COVID-19 campus guidelines cancelling Birthright Israel trips and in-person programming for the 2020-2021 academic year at many universities, Arinne created the Israeli Art Lending Library (IALL) at Northeastern Hillel and UMass Amherst Hillel, in partnership with the Consulate of Israel to New England. With a net promoter score of 100%, IALL has been popular with participating students in its first year.
